Toon target speaks out after failing to land £25m move to Newcastle United this summer

Newcastle target Joao Pedro has stated that he is “very happy” at Watford and “fully committed” to getting them back in the Premier League after speaking to the Board this week.

We tried and failed to bring the Brazilian to Tyneside last month, with the Hornets rejecting our £25m bid that included £5m in future payments should we qualify for the Champions League.

The 20-year-old is someone we’ve been tipped to target when the January transfer window opens, but his latest statement should put speculation to bed, for now at least.

On his personal Instagram page, here’s what Pedro said:

“I’m very happy here. I love being at Watford and I want to do more with them.

“I spoke to the Board yesterday and I am fully committed to the club and looking forward to a successful season.

“Let’s go Hornets!”

Fabrizio Romano reported earlier in the transfer window that we had completed a deal for the young forward, however a host of local reporters insisted that Watford had NOT accepted what turned out to be our third and final offer.

One to watch next summer if Watford fail to bounce straight back?

  1. Oh dear – nothing like a forced statement to put things right when the fans turn against you.

I spoke to the board yesterday and they tell me I’m very happy here!”
