Amanda Staveley has revealed that the club are “talking to officials” about the series of poor decisions that have cost Newcastle United points over the past few games.
On Saturday, a perfectly good Joe Willock goal was chalked off against Crystal Palace, as VAR’s intervention cost us dearly in what turned out to be a frustrating 0-0 draw at St James’ Park.
Speaking during Newcastle Women’s clash with Hull at Kingston Park on Sunday, Staveley admits she “hated” the decision and had a “sleepless night” as a result, knowing it was another game “we should’ve won.”
However, our co-owner claims that we are “dealing with” the matter and speaking to officials in a bid to improve the standard of refereeing – and use of VAR – going forward.
Here’s what she told Eddie from Tyneside Life yesterday:
“I had a sleepless night.
“We should’ve won. I hated the VAR decision.
“Obviously that’s something we are dealing with.
“It seems to be a consistent theme of the last few games. But we are dealing with that and we are talking to officials and trying to get something that we think will work going forward.”

It wouldn’t have been a Willock goal. Quite clearly you haven’t been watching.
It would have been an own goal by Mitchell.

An irrelevant point. The important point is that a perfectly good goal was chalked off.
