Amanda Staveley has been discussing all things Newcastle United after attending our Women’s 1-1 draw with Chorley on Sunday.
Speaking to The Magpie Channel from Kingston Park, our co-owner talked takeovers, training ground improvements, recent results and her commitment to seeing every department of the club improve over the coming years.
As ever, she seemed genuinely excited about the future of Newcastle United and showed a clear passion to grow our Women’s side, revealing plans to see Wor Lasses play at St James’ Park again soon.
Staveley also confirmed that the “ultimate ambition” is to build a new training ground that allows the men, women and Academy to all be based at the same facility, but admits these things take time – which explains why improvements have been made at Benton to improve facilities in the mean time.
She also feels that wins “will come” for the first-team, believing we were let down by officials against Liverpool and Crystal Palace and were a few missed chances away from turning recent draws into wins, insisting she is “proud” of Eddie Howe and the players for all their efforts.
As for her and PIF’s ambitions for the coming year, Staveley hopes to see the football club improve on and off the pitch, feeling it’s vital they deliver good football for the fans, results from a business perspective and a pathway to success for the Women.
