The Telegraph’s Luke Edwards has issued an update on the injury front at Newcastle United in what’s proving the be and international break from hell for Eddie Howe.
Starting with Alexander Isak, he reports that that our record signing will be out for ‘a few weeks’ after being forced to withdraw from the Sweden squad last week.
So, it sounds like our £60m man will miss upcoming games against Fulham, Brentford and Manchester United, although the better news is that there’s ‘confidence’ Bruno Guimaraes will be OK for Saturday.
The midfielder has also returned from international duty with an injury – this time a thigh problem – however there’s now been a few North-East reporters playing down the severity of this one.
Edwards adds that Allan Saint-Maximin is ‘touch and go’ for Fulham, but ‘unlikely’ to feature along with Chris Wood, who is ‘struggling’ with a rib injury picked up in New Zealand’s 2-0 defeat to Australia on Sunday.
Last but certainly not least, Callum Wilson ‘will return’ at Craven Cottage after overcoming a hamstring injury, however he will be ‘wrapped in cotton wool’ now two of our three strikers have come back with knocks over the international break.
