According to reports, Newcastle United are now showing interest in Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar.
This comes from Calciomercato, who claim that Newcastle have joined Juventus, Real Betis and Arsenal in the race to sign the 24-year-old talent who is nearing the end of his contract.
Aouar is approaching the final six months of his contract with the Ligue 1 side, meaning he could leave on a cut-price fee in January.
The report states that he will be allowed to leave for £18m this winter, although it’s thought that fee could drop even further given he’ll leave on a free transfer at the end of the season if he fails to sign a new deal.
The French international held talks with Nottingham Forest over the summer and looked likely to sign at one stage, but a late change of heart saw him remain at Lyon.
Time will tell if there’s any truth in this latest link, although it is an intriguing one given his age, availability and versatility, not forgetting that he played alongside Bruno Guimaraes’ during the pair’s time together in France.

I am sure that you go to scout one player, Bruno, and then notice that one of his colleagues is actually quite good as well. Would not surprise me to see this happen.
What position does he play? I saw MF but is he attack, defense, left, right? Is he more Shelvey or Willock?
