Club in advanced talks to appoint former Premier League boss ahead of Newcastle clash – Report

According to reports, Bournemouth are closing in on the appointment of Marcelo Bielsa ahead of their upcoming trip to Tyneside.

We don’t face the Cherries until the week commencing 19th December, but our clash in the last 16 of the Carabao Cup is set to be the first game back following the World Cup.

Over the weekend, both Sky Sports and The Athletic confirmed Bournemouth’s interest in the former Leeds boss, however Football Insider reveal this morning that the Argentine is now in ‘advanced talks’ to take over at the Vitality.

The club are said to be confident he’ll accept their offer, which would see the 67-year-old return to Premier League management after he was sacked by Leeds back in February.

Interim boss Gary O’Neil has done a superb job since Scott Parker’s departure earlier in the season, with back-to-back wins over Everton helping them move three points clear of the drop zone and into the fourth round of the League Cup.

One to watch for Toon fans, as whoever takes over on the South Coast will face a trip to St James’ Park in their opening game as manager next month!
