According to 90min, Newcastle are hoping to beat Inter Milan to Borussia Monchengladbach star Marcus Thuram.
The Italian giants are hoping to sign the 25-year-old on a free transfer in the summer once his contract in Germany runs out, aware of the fact he is ‘intrigued’ by a potential move to Italy; where his father Lilian played for years.
However, Newcastle are ‘ready’ to make the Bundesliga side an offer next month, knowing a cut-price deal in January may appeal above losing him for nothing at the end of the season.
It’s thought Eddie Howe sees the versatile forward as a ‘good fit’ for his current squad, with 90min also ading that talks with the player’s representatives have been ‘positive’ so far.
Allan Saint-Maximin – a good friend of Thuram’s – has already put in a good word and is hopeful that he will join him on Tyneside, recently describing the 6ft 3′ Frenchman as “great player” and “incredible guy.”
Other Premier League sides such as Aston Villa, Arsenal, Tottenham and Man United are thought to have been offered the striker’s talents, but it seems the Magpies are at the front of the queue alongside Inter Milan at present.
