According to 90min, Newcastle are hoping to convince Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar to join on a free transfer in the summer despite offers from a host of European giants.
The 27-year-old has entered the final six months of his contract with Inter and while the Serie A giants are still hopeful of him signing a new deal, they are ‘braced to receive bids for his services’ in the coming weeks.
The report states that that Man Utd, Chelsea and Man City are also interested in the centre-back, with Newcastle one of the clubs ‘expected to offer a contract’ to the Slovakian captain.
Alternatively, we could look to sign the 6ft 2′ defender in January for a cut-price fee, as this will be the last opportunity for Inter to cash in on their skipper.
A central defender is not thought to be a priority for Howe in this window – a defensive midfielder, wide forward and right-back are all high on the list – but the chance to sign such an experienced player for so little may be too good to pass up?
