Man Utd get lucky on Sunday as blatant red card is ignored ahead of cup final – Video

Manchester United have got lucky (again) ahead of the Carabao Cup final after a blatant red card for Marcel Sabitzer was completely ignored in their 3-0 victory over Leicester on Sunday.

The midfielder followed through with a high challenge on Leicester’s Wout Faes and made clear contact with his knee, yet not even a yellow card was given for the reckless lunge.

This isn’t the first time they’ve gotten away with one, as star centre-back Lisandro Martinez’s kick out at Patrick Bamford was ignored in their last home league game.

Had a red been given, the 28-year-old would have been suspended for the final next weekend, leaving our opposition light in midfield despite the return of Casemiro.

After seeing Bruno given a red for his challenge against Southampton, it is difficult to understand why the same punishment hasn’t been dished out in this incident.

Even Graeme Souness was complaining on Sky Sports about the lack of a sending off – and it’s very rare that Newcastle fans and the former Toon boss are on the same page. See the foul below:
