According to Football Insider, Newcastle are ‘closely monitoring’ the situation of Arsenal’s Kieran Tierney, with Fulham left-back Antonee Robinson also emerging as a target.
It’s believed the club are keen to secure a new left-back in the summer window, with Dan Burn initially signed to play at centre-back, Matt Targett struggling with injuries and Jamal Lewis likely to be moved on this summer after failing to impress.
Tierney has become second choice at the Emirates following the signing of Oleksandr Zinchenko in the summer and will be keen to play first-team football again.
Our biggest concern over signing the Scottish international would be his injury record – he missed the final 10 games of last season after undergoing knee surgery.
As for Robinson, the USA international has been one of Fulham’s most consistent performers this season, with his pace and impressive engine helping them move up to sixth with a win at Brighton on Saturday.
Despite our interest, Newcastle are also believed to be lining up a new contract for Burn. However, the big man has his limitations going forward and is sometimes troubled by the pace of Premier League wingers, meaning a slightly more mobile alternative could make sense to give Howe another option.
