Brazil boss goes public on Joelinton – Brilliant comments after bizarre Bruno Guimaraes snub

Brazil interim manager Ramon Menezes has revealed that Joelinton is being considered for a first ever call-up to the senior squad.

He describes the “strong” 26-year-ol as a “great player” who “we are watching”, believing he could fit into their squad as a midfielder and “wear the shirt of the national team at any time.”

This comes after big Joe missed out on the latest squad for Brazil’s upcoming friendly, with fellow Mag Bruno Guimaraes also a shock omission as a host of young talents were selected instead.

Despite a stunning 2021/22 season, Joelinton failed to make their World Cup squad back in December, with former head coach Tite opting for Man United’s Fred instead after travelling to Tyneside to watch our £40m man.

However, it seems he’s still on Brazil’s radar, with Menezes having this today ahead of the upcoming international break:

“Joelinton is a great player and can fit in as a defensive midfielder (or) midfielder.

He is a strong player, who we are watching and who can wear the shirt of the national team at any time.”

He’ll miss our next two games through suspension, but any call-up would be the icing on the cake for a player who was dubbed a ‘£40m flop’ and one of the worst buys in Newcastle history just a few years ago.

After his incredible rise to form last season, it’s safe to say that the former Hoffenheim talent deserves the chance to impress on the international stage.
