New name linked with Newcastle move and Toon ‘in talks’ with £45m centre-back?

According to new reports, Newcastle have been showing interest in Portuguese duo Matheus Nunes and Goncalo Inacio.

Starting with Nunes, The Mail report that we have ‘always fancied’ the Wolves midfielder – who only signed at Molineux last summer in a £38m club-record fee from Sporting Lisbon.

Liverpool are also keen on the 24-year-old after being priced out of a move for Jude Bellingham, but it’s thought he would prefer to leave for a team competing in the Champions League; giving Newcastle an advantage should we secure a top-four finish.

Elsewhere, Football Insider have released an ‘exclusive’ on our ongoing interest in Gonaclo Inacio, with Fraser Fletcher reporting that we’ve held talks over a summer move for the 21-year-ol centre-back.

It’s thought Newcastle and Man Utd have both shown early interest in the Portuguese international and met with the player’s camp. He wouldn’t come cheap, as Sporting look set to demand £45m for this services.

Inacio is one of the most highly-rated young defenders in Europe and was linked prior to Sven Botman’s arrival. However, I do wonder if there’s room for another left-sided centre-back, especially when Dan Burn could act as cover for the big Dutchman next season?
