Newcastle have secured another off-the-pitch signing with the arrival of Norwich’s Josh Appleyard as a new Positional Analyst – the laDan Ashworth continues to assemble his recruitment team.
This is one of several additions that Dan Ashworth has orchestrated behind the scenes, with the following also joining our recruitment team ahead of the 2023/24 season:
- Edward Black (from Arsenal): Lead Academy Scout
- Paul Mclaren (from Man City): Head of National Youth Scouting
- Paul Midgley (from Man City): Head of Youth Recruitment
- Delroy Ebanks (from West Ham): Academy Lead Scout for South
Appleyard was working as Senior First Team Performance Analyst with the Canaries before leaving for Tyneside and will look at both emerging talent and potential first team players.
He will be targeting specific positions rather than scouting a region – this is the model that Ashworth was working with at Brighton and looks to be implementing here at Newcastle.
It certainly looks to be step in the right direction and hopefully we will be able to see the benefits of all these new additions in the not too distant future.
