Newcastle will make a big push for James Maddison ‘this week’, according to Fabrizio Romano.
He reports that the Leicester City star remains a ‘top target, but the club don’t want a drawn out transfer saga and are keen for a final decision to be made ‘soon’ over his future.
This suggests a bid may be imminent or crunch talks to determine exactly where he wants to be playing his football next season following recent suggestions that he prefers a move to Spurs.
As for Tottenham, Romano reports that they are ‘working on the player’s side’ and pushing to bring the 26-year-old to North London. However, he’s denied claims that they submitted a bid for the England international last week.
Maddison is due back from international duty after England’s 7-0 win over North Macedonia last night, so I’d expect things to pick up on that front over the coming days. Hopefully we get word that he wants to join Eddie’s Mags and can strike a deal with Leicester. If not, it’ll be time to move on to other targets.

I hope we don’t drag our heels on this, if he wants to come it should be resolved quickly, set a deadline of a week and if no answer move on to Dominik Szoboszlai
