As revealed by The Athletic, Rafa Benitez is ‘on the verge’ of becoming the new Celta Vigo manager while Lee Charnley has lost his job at Nottingham Forest.
After losing his job at Everton last January, the Spaniard has spent the last 18 months out of work and plotting a return to top flight management.
George Caulkin reports that he’s rejected over 20 offers since leaving the Toffees – one being a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia – however he’ll now take over La Liga side Celta Vigo; who look set to lose reported Toon target Gabri Veiga this summer.
As for Charnley, the former Newcastle United Managing Director has been ditched by Nottingham Forest following a 10-month stint at the City Ground.
Last August, Charnley joined East Midlands club on a ‘consultancy basis’ to help with their transition to the Premier League. However, he’s now been informed that he’s no longer needed, leaving him out of work ahead of the new 2023/24 season.
