Adidas CEO Bjørn Gulden has told Toon chiefs that the new partnership with Newcastle United is going to be a “great thing” for the fans, the club and their brand.
Speaking to Amanada Staveley, Mehrdad Ghodoussi, Darren Eales and Peter Silverstone on episode four of the Amazon documentary, Gulden said: “I think the change in ownership tells us that this is a serious project and you can see it already now.
“I don’t think many people believed they’d be where they are already. It’s going to be a great thing for the fans, the club and us.”
In response to the Adidas CEO, Amanda Staveley highlighted our commitment to the deal, saying: “Now we’ve just got to push. This relationship is so important to us, because it allows us to really grow the brand and the commercial value.”
As narrator Alan Shearer reveals, the deal with the German giants believed to be a five-year agreement that could be worth ‘hundreds of millions’ based on kit and retail sales.
During the meeting at Adidas’ HQ, Peter Silverstone discussed “growing our fanbase” in North America, China and Saudi Arabia, mentioning Adidas’ current relationship with the Saudi national team after they struck a deal to replace Nike this year.
Our CCO added that Adidas can help boost our standing in Saudi, which would build commercial revenues and therefore boost the transfer budget available to Eddie Howe and sporting director Dan Ashworth.
Nick Craggs – a General Manager at Adidas who head up the brand’s global football business – also added “there are so many people inside of Adidas who want this to happen”, showing their determination to become the club’s kit supplier once again.
Pleased we are back with Adidas who do proper quality kits, unlike Castore.
