Sven Botman has missed out on the squad after suffering an ankle injury last Sunday, but Joelinton has passed a late fitness test and starts in midfield.
With Botman out, Matt Targett comes in for his first season of the season at left-back, seeing Dan Burn come in alongside Fabian Schar at centre-back.
For Brighton, former Toon target Joao Pedro starts in attack alongside Karou Mitoma, Solly March and Evan Ferguson.
