Joe Willock suffers devastating injury setback – Details confirmed after 3-1 defeat to Brighton

If our 3-1 defeat to Brighton wasn’t bad enough, it’s now emerged that Joe Willock has suffered a new injury setback.

The 24-year-old had been stepping up his recovery from a serious hamstring issue, but has now picked up a new Achilles injury an will be missing for the next six weeks.

The midfielder hasn’t featured since our 4-1 win over Brighton back in May and played no part in any of our pre-season friendlies. He hasn’t featured this season and was close to resuming full training, but this new injury will now keep him out until at least mid October.

With us facing five games over the final two weeks of September, competing in the Premier League, Champions League and Carabao Cup, this is exactly what we could’ve done without.

A real shame for Willock too and a blow for the squad, as we’ll need to rotate over the coming weeks and months, not to mention the fact we’ve really missed his pace, athleticism and goal threat down that left.
