According to reports in Brazil, Newcastle United are eyeing Corinthians duo Wesley Gassova and Gabriel Moscardo.
Bolavip Brasil claim that Newcastle are seriously interest in Wesley and are prepared to ‘come to Brazil’ to seal a deal for the highly-rated winger.
The 18-year-old is a versatile winger who can play down either flank or up front. He’s already made 30 appearances for Corinthians’ senior side, scoring twice and assisting once. Everton are also thought to be keen on Wesley and is expected to leave to boost the Série A side’s finances.
Elsewhere, iG Esporte report that we’re also keen on teammate Gabriel Moscardo; a holding midfielder who has also broken into their senior side.
The tough-tackling 18-year-old has played 17 times for Corinthians and was subject to interest from Chelsea and Barcelona over the summer. He stands 6ft 1′ and has already represented Brazil at U23 level.
Despite all the links over the past 18 months, Newcastle are yet to sign a young Brazilian able to go out on loan like Yankuba Minteh or Garang Kuol, with former target Andrey Santos ending up at Chelsea.
However, with Dan Ashworth and Steve Nickson having strong links in South America, it may be a matter of time until a young Samba star joins Bruno and Joelinton on Tyneside.
