Jamie Carragher makes mockery of embarrassing Arsenal statement & Gary Neville joins in

Jamie Carragher has criticised Arsenal’s statement of support for Mikel Arteta’s comments following their 1-0 defeat at St James’ Park, saying ‘this nonsense has to stop.’

The former Liverpool told Sky Sports that he doesn’t agree with the club’s statement, believing it’s ‘way over the top’ given there was no clear evidence to disallow our winning goal.

Carragher was left scratching his head as to what Arsenal were actually so unhappy about, insisting there’s been several other Premier League managers who’ve been hard done by this season without throwing their toys out of the pram and releasing statements. Watch what he had to say below:

Neville also posted on social media to suggest that ‘Arsenal’s letter is wrong’ and believes that it is ‘undermining the system and the whole refereeing community’.

He also poked fun at the decision to not send off Kai Havertz’ responding to their pathetic statement with this amusing tweet:

Neville’s right. For all of the fume around our goal, what about the fact Havertz wasn’t sent off for an ankle-breaker on Longstaff? Now THAT was clear and obvious.

It’s certainly odd to see the amount of outrage from considering there have been far more controversial VAR decisions made in the Premier League even just in the last few weeks – just ask a Wolves fan!
