Official update on Isak, Schar, Joelinton, Trippier, Barnes & Botman ahead of Chelsea clash

Eddie Howe has issued an update on the injury front ahead of tomorrow night’s Carabao Cup quarter-final against Chelsea.

He’s revealed that Fabian Schar (glute) and Joelinton (hamstring) will have scans today on injuries picked up in Saturday’s 3-0 win over Fulham, but seems confident that neither are “too bad.”

Alexander Isak has ongoing groin issue, yet there’s a “chance” he plays tomorrow, Harvey Barnes looks set to be missing for another “4-5 weeks.”

Kieran Trippier will be assessed after training today to see if he’s ready to return after limping off against AC Milan last week and a late decision will be made on Sven Botman, who is pushing for his first start on three months.

Howe on Schar and Joelinton – “Both players will have scans today. They don’t appear to be too bad but I’m reluctant to say that before. To miss Fabby would be a big blow. We will try to pick the best team with all the information we have.”

Howe on Alexander Isak – “It’s a problem with the groin, which he had a scan last week, it’s not a big problem. It’s very minor, probably just fatigued more than anything. It’s enough at the moment for us to treat him carefully. We don’t want him to be out. We have to manage it. He’ll have a chance (for tomorrow).”

Howe on Sven Botman“Sven has done a lot of work, his rehab. We have to make a decision whether to start him. He’s done a lot of work. We are happy with that work load.”
