Dan Burn has revealed that Sandro Tonali’s English has come on leaps and bounds since he signed from AC Milan over the summer.
Speaking on Ben Foster’s podcast, the defender admitted it was initially difficult to communicate with the Italian and involve in things he couldn’t understand, but claims his English is now “unbelievable.”
“When he first came, his English wasn’t great. It’s hard. You want to involve him in everything but it’s quite hard because you can’t speak”, he said.
“Whereas now his English is unbelievable. Unbelievable…I was speaking to him the other day and I was like…’wow, your English is a lot better!'”
Burn also denied rumours that his teammates sent him to Wetherspoons soon after he arrive from Milan! Watch the clip below:
Nice to hear the last bit about Tonali's English improving, and it's a testament to his commitment.
With a year of training with the team, improving his communication, and adapting to his environment, I really think we'll see the best of him next season. He'll be a real asset. pic.twitter.com/u4ELzKEPr0

With the 23-year-old banned from football until August 2024 for illegal betting activity, it’s a great time for the midfielder to learn the language and it seems he’s doing exactly that!
It must’ve been a tough time for Tonali, yet little things like this will be huge to help him gain support from his Toon teammates and settle into the squad during what must be a really tough time.
