EXCLUSIVE: Newcastle line up £43m move for RB Leipzig star Benjamin Šeško

Newcastle United are preparing a summer move for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Šeško.

The 20-year-old has been identified as one of our leading targets to replace Callum Wilson, who is expected to leave at the end of the season; where he’ll be 32 and in the final 12 months of his contract at the club.

Newcastle hold long-term interest in Šeško. His agent Elvis Basanovic held talks on Tyneside during the summer of 2022 and was watched closely during his time at RB Salzburg. However, a release clause in the region of £43m (€50m) is due to become active at the end of the season, prompting further interest.

The 6ft 4′ Slovenian has struggled for regular starts at RB Leipzig this season, giving Newcastle hope that he could be tempted by an end-of-season move to Tyneside.

Šeško is considered a player of huge potential, with his mix of height, athleticism and technical ability making him well suited to Premier League football and an ideal option to compete with club-record signing Alexander Isak.

As we revealed last month, Newcastle are already planning to young sign a striker this summer, with Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee and Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke also of interest.
