Newcastle submit ‘offer’ to sign versatile attacker impressing in Germany – Report

Earlier this week we brought you reports from Sky Germany that Newcastle had interest in 18-year-old attacker Can Yılmaz Uzun, who currently plays in the German second tier for Nürnberg.

A few days later, Turkish outlet Fanatik have now claimed Newcastle are among four clubs battling for Uzun’s signature, with contact made to discuss a deal of around €10m. It’s believed the striker has ‘received offers’ from ourselves, Brighton, Frankfurt and Borussia Dortmund.

According to Sport Witness, Uzun has indicated that a January transfer would be complicated but said “we’ll see” when asked if he would leave Nürnberg in the summer. The player, who scored a brace in Nürnberg’s win on Saturday, is contracted until 2027 at the German side.

After previous moves for Yankuba Minteh and Garang Kuol, along with a recent agreement for Man City teenager Alfie Harrison, it’s clear the club are keen to bring top young talent to Tyneside.
