Anthony Gordon U-turn – Good news on Wednesday morning after worrying update

Yesterday, The Telegraph reported that there were fears behind the scenes that Anthony Gordon had suffered a serious injury after being forced off in Monday’s 3-2 defeat to Chelsea.

However, there’s much more encouraging news this morning on his fitness, as The Chronicle‘s Lee Ryder reports that the injury is NOT as bad as first feared after assessment at the club’s Benton training base on Tuesday.

It was suggested on Tuesday that the winger was at risk of missing the remainder of the season, so it’s a huge relief to hear that he should be back in action before too long.

We await official confirmation and should get a better idea when Eddie Howe speaks to the press on Friday morning. Gordon is still likely to miss Saturday’s FA Cup quarter-final at Man City and it remains to be seen if he’ll be called up to Gareth Southgate’s England squad tomorrow.

Either way, it will be a huge boost to his England hopes and our late push for the European places if our player of the season can feature after the upcoming international break.

  1. “… there were fears …”
“…NOT as bad as first feared …”
    “…It was suggested …”
“….back in action before too long…”

Lots of words, but no ACTUAL information.

So how long is “before too long”?
