Sky Germany: Newcastle eyeing summer move for Assan Ouédraogo

According to reports in Germany, Newcastle United are eyeing up a summer move for Schalke sensation Assan Ouédraogo.

Fresh from linking us with RB Leipzig’s Mohamed Simakan last night, Sky Germany are reporting that Newcastle have joined the race to sign the exciting 17-year-old.

Sky’s Florian Plettenberg claims that ourselves, Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig, Eintracht Frankfurt, AS Roma and Atalanta are all interested in the versatile midfielder following his breakthrough season in the German second tier.

After graduating from Schalke’s academy following their relegation from the Bundesliga, he’s made 14 first team appearances this season, bagging two goals and two assists.

The 6ft 2′ talent has already shown impressive versatility in that time, operating as a central midfielder and on both flanks. He’s represented his country at U17 and U16 level and is expected to secure a move to one of Europe’s top leagues this summer.

With Newcastle United clearly on the hunt for some of the world’s most exciting young stars  – Yankuba Minteh’s arrival being a prime example – he could be one to watch in our ongoing search for emerging talent.
