Newcastle closing in on first summer signing as target rejects new deal – Report

According to reports this afternoon, Newcastle United are closing in on the signing of Bournemouth’s Lloyd Kelly.

In an exclusive for HITC, Graeme Bailey reports that the versatile defender has turned down a contract offer at the Vitality, despite the Cherries offering to make the soon-to-be free agent one of their top earners.

It’s believed we are stepping up our efforts to secure his signing and the current favourites to do so, despite interest from Spurs, Liverpool, AC Milan and Juventus.

The Mail’s Craig Hope revealed last month that Steve Nickson was leading our pursuit of the 25-year-old, with Eddie Howe keen to be reunited with the man he brought to Bournemouth in 2019.

Kelly may be considered an upgrade on Dan Burn – another play who can play at centre-back and left-back – but can also cover through the middle following ACL injuries to Jamaal Lascelles and Sven Botman.

HITC also report that we maintain an interest in Fulham’s Tosin Adarabioyo, who is also out of contract this summer. However, as things stand, it’s believed Tottenham are in pole position to bring the 26-year-old to North London.
