Newcastle United have named their starting 11 to face Tottenham in today’s post-season friendly in Australia.
Here’s the side Eddie Howe has selected at the Melbourne Cricket Ground for the 10:45am (BST) kick off Down Under, followed by the strong Spurs side selected by Ange Postecoglou:
Newcastle XI: Pope – Trippier, Krafth, Burn, Hall – Anderson, Guimaraes, Joelinton – Almiron, Isak, Barnes.
Subs: Gillespie, Wilson, J Murphy, Ashby, De Bolle, Kuol, White, Diallo, Turner-Cooke, A Murphy, Parkinson, Thompson, Charlton, Hernes.
Spurs XI: Austin – Porro, Van de Ven, Dragusin, Royal – Bentancur, Sarr, Maddison – Kulusevski, Son, Johnson
It feels odd to see the team playing on the other side of the world just a few days after the final match of a gruelling season, but it’s clear the trip is to boost our commercial revenues ahead of another big summer off the field.
The game is being shown live on NUFC TV, priced at £4.99 for one game or as a £7.99 bundle, allowing you to watch today’s match and Friday’s game against the A-League All Stars (Purchase passes here.)

As this is essentially a PR trip to try to sell some shirts I’m shocked that Kuol doesn’t get a start.
Maybe he’ll come on as a sub after 2 minutes!
