Newcastle target £45m winger and striker as Everton eye shock Minteh move – Report

According to The Mail, Everton are considering a summer move for Newcastle United loan star Yankuba Minteh.

The same piece reveals that Michael Olise is one of our top priorities heading into the window and has a £45m release clause that could rise to £60m with add-ons, with Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin also eyed up as potential cover for Alexander Isak.

It’s unclear if the Toffees will target the Gambian winger on a permanent or loan deal, but their financial issues suggest the latter is more realistic given we’d demand big money for the 19-year-old talent who scored 11 times with Feyenoord last season.

A Premier League loan could be ideal for his development, especially now Arne Slot has left Feyenoord; who are keen to bring him back for another year.

Speaking about his future last month, Minteh said: “Ultimately, the Premier League is my goal. Newcastle United is the club that have a lot of confidence in me. I have no idea what the future looks like. I was in Newcastle once, when they played against Borussia Dortmund. I will hear soon what plans the club has for me. I’m still young, I have time, maybe they want to loan me out again.

“I don’t know yet, I’ll hear about it. I’ll let everything happen to me. I know only that one day I will play in the Premier League (for Newcastle).”

  1. Minteh to Everton (Loan) makes sense. Jack Harrison is returning to Leeds and didn’t do too well. If there is a mid season recall it could be a very astute move.

I’m not impressed by DCL .

As to Michael Olise without European football we have little to offer compared with some of his other suitors.

  2. I’d be good with Minteh going to Everton for the full season coz I think he’s more likely to get game time if he’s in their plans for the full season.

Don’t want DCL – would be one sicknote replacing another getting him imo.

I think Ben Brereton Diaz would be a low cost good recruit for cover in the forward areas. He can play LWF and CF – he proved with a very poor Sheff Utd team that he can score goals in the PL.
