Newcastle offer could be hijacked as Chelsea and Man Utd consider late bids – Report

According to Mark Douglas at the i, Newcastle may have to fend off late bids from Chelsea and Man Utd to sign free agent defender Tosin Adarabioyo.

He reports that Newcastle are in ‘advanced negotiations’ and have made a ‘very competitive’ offer to bring the 26-year-old to St James’ Park.

However, Chelsea have now registered an interest and are considering a late bid to hijack his potential move to Tyneside after holding talks with the Fulham defender in recent days.

Man Utd are also keen, despite their managerial situation being up in the air, while Chelsea’s ‘transfer committee’ are thought to rate the 6ft 5′ centre-back highly.

The concern would be if both ‘big six’ clubs are able to offer Tosin bigger wages, especially when Man Utd’s FA Cup final win means they and Chelsea will also play in Europe next season. However, Douglas reveals that the player has previously been enthusiastic about working under Eddie Howe and joining this ambitious project at St James’ Park.
