It’s that time of the week again when we bring you all the latest and greatest news we have heard over the past week about all things related to Newcastle United. As to be expected it hasn’t been the busiest of weeks for The Magpies. The transfer window has just opened but as usual, clubs are just starting to find their feet and get their bearings in the market so not much movement has been made by any of the clubs across Europe at this time.
Speaking of Europe, a fair chunk of the squad will be jetting off to Germany for the European Championships, mind you with all the chaos that’s been happening at the airports as of late it would half surprise me if they need to as for BA delayed flights compensation, as getting through customs recently has been a complete horror show. Anyway less of my moaning, let’s get into the news.
It’s A No To Mourinho
First things first we want to dispel one of the sillier rumours that have been doing the rounds over the past week or so. With the Newcastle board seemingly giving Eddie Howe their full backing we are not too sure how this one managed to surface, but Jose Mourinho will not be making his way to St James’ Park.
The controversial Portuguese manager has made a verbal agreement with Turkish giants Fenerbahce. News broke on Friday morning via Fabrizio Romano. Romano stated via a post on social media platform X that: “José Mourinho’s verbal agreement with Fenerbahce is on a two-year contract valid until June 2026. It will also include an option for a further season. Jorge Mendes has been negotiating the deal and now time to review, and sign all formal documents. Here we go soon!”
I’m glad that one has been put to bed.
Bruno Guimarães Update
Bruno Guimarãe’s 100 million pound release clause expires in 30 days, if you have been following the News About Toon section you will know this is something we have been monitoring closely and we do have a small update to bring you regarding the midfielder’s situation.
It is believed from various sources that no one can meet the release clause (due to FFP regulations) but there is still a chance that the player will leave with Manchester City now leading the race. It is thought that Eddie Howe already has a replacement lined up for the talismanic Brazilian, and we will keep tabs on this story for you as it develops further. Hopefully, The Toon can hang onto him.
Pre-Season Tickets Go On Sale Today
Last but not least the tickets for Newcastle United’s pre-season tour of Japan have gone on sale today. The decision to expand the Newcastle brand in Asia makes a lot of sense and Japan is a beautiful place to visit so if any of you are lucky enough to be able to get over there before the season starts I think it’s a chance that would be hard to pass up on.
The Toon Will be playing Urawa Red Diamonds on July 31st and Yokohama F. Marinos on August 3rd.
