Some big claims emerged from The Telegraph’s Luke Edwards last night, who reports that Newcastle United could now sell Yankuba Minteh after huge early interest in the winger.
The report states that we’re ‘reluctantly considering a host of offers’ for the 19-year-old following his impressive loan spell at Feyenoord, revealing that Liverpool are one of several clubs who have made their interest known, along with unnamed sides in Germany and Italy.
Liverpool’s interest makes sense given former Feyenoord boss Arne Slot has replaced Jurgen Klopp at Anfield. It’s believed the 45-year-old Dutchman feels Minteh has the potential to ‘become one of the best young forwards in Europe’, having worked with the Gambian during his 11-goal season in Rotterdam last term.
Edwards reports that any bids in the region of £40m could be accepted to help us comply with Premier League profit and sustainability rules (PSR) and help fund summer moves of our own.

If signing a new right winger is a top priority then why on earth are we going to sell one of the most wanted right wingers ?
Sidekick(Quote)
How is this a “shock”?
35 million profit for a kid who is unlikely to make our first team?
Take their hand off.

Totally agree with Sidekick.
It doesn’t make sense. Just more bovine manure from journalists and certain media.

These people are going to be SO disappointed (and looking stupid) when we run out next season with all of our top performers.

How isn’t it a shock that an exciting new signing we were looking forward to watching could leave for £40m before he’s kicked a ball for Newcastle?
It was never a given that he’d be sold this summer (most felt we shouldn’t have even loaned him out again), so a big money move to a massive Premier League club definitely didn’t seem on the cards…

If he is good enough for Liverpool to be interested we should keep him, unless June 30th psr is a bigger concern than we thought.

Couldn’t agree more. If this lad was a Feyenoord player and we were being linked with him alongside the likes of Liverpool for £40m we’d all be desperately hoping he signs for us!
If he’s that good that bigger clubs than us are willing to pay £40m then why are we selling? We’ll just go out and spend that money on an equally unproven right winger from a foreign league. It makes no sense at all.

He’s one of the worst journo’s going, nothing but pure lazy journalism due to him being on loan at Feyenoord.
Olly loves him though 😋
