Newcastle negotiating early exit and £15m man rejected by loan club – Report

According to reports, Newcastle are looking to release Isaac Hayden from his contract early and are hoping to find a new home for Jamal Lewis after Watford’s snub.

As revealed by the Shields Gazette, the club hope to reach an agreement that allows Hayden to leave as a free agent this summer, with the midfielder currently contracted to Newcastle for another two years.

The 29-year-old spent the first half of last season at Standard Liege in Belgium before joining QPR for the second half of 2023/24 at QPR, who he is hoping to join permanently despite interest from other Championship clubs.

As for Jamal Lewis, it’s believed Watford had an ‘option to buy’ inserted into his season-long loan deal. However, the Hornets opted against signing the former Norwich talent on a permanent deal, summing up how much his career has gone downhill since he signed for £15m back in September 2020.

Lewis still has 12 months left on his Newcastle contract and if we can’t find a buyer, the 26-year-old may have to settle for another loan move before he becomes a free agent in 12 months time.

Elsewhere, Ryan Fraser is nearing a permanent move to Southampton and should become the latest Mag to depart after Paul Dummett, Matt Ritchie, Loris Karius, Jeff Hendrick and Kell Watts were all released.
