According to The Telegraph, Newcastle United are ‘pushing ahead’ with a deal to sign Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Luke Edwards report that the club have been keen on the 27-year-old since the summer of 2021 and are keen to bring in attacking options to compete with Alexander Isak, with Callum Wilson expected to depart.
The piece states that Calvert-Lewin is keen on a move to Tyneside and could ignore any contract offer from Goodison Park in a bid to push through a move to St James’ Park, with Newcastle in ‘pole position’ to seal a deal.
A fee is yet to be agreed, but talks are advancing and it’s believed there is ‘confidence’ a deal will be struck, with Eddie Howe believing the target man would score more goals in his attack-minded Newcastle side after eight last season on Merseyside.
The Telegraph also report that a host of offers are being reluctantly considered for Yankuba Minteh, who has been linked with Roma, Marseille, Everton and Borussia Dortmund this week. It’s believed Newcastle may have to sell before anyone else can sign, suggesting our hands may be tied at present from a PSR perspective.

Oh dear Luke Edwards
The guy talks the biggest 💩going absolutely the worst journo around, taking his exclusives from sites like football first and the boot room 😂
Then again he throws so many exclusives out ones bound to stick one day.
Ok let’s play along I wouldn’t touch DCL with a barge pole, he should maybe change his first name to Adam and then his initials would be ACL anyway the main reason to avoid is the fact he’s made out of balsa wood and rice paper.

We should maybe have a sweepstakes on how many days before Olly posts an article by Edwards 😜
Olly loves him 😘

Whyy would we buy him – the mans permanently crocked. Not value for money

Can’t imagine they’d sell an academy graduate who got into England squads for less then 25m and I can’t imagine anyone in their right mind spending 25m on a player with so many injuries. Surely this is a non starter. He makes Andy Carroll seem like the terminator

Swapping one injury prone forward for another, we also need someone younger.
Hope it’s not true.

In fairness to olly, sky sports are actually posting this article on their app too. News is news, even if it’s BS.
Can’t be holding olly to higher standard than sky sports now 😀

Why would we sell a regularly crocked striker who is very potent when fit, only to replace him with another permanently crocked striker who isn’t? Where is the win in that?

Aside from his injury record – his goal scoring record isn’t great either really – 54 goals in 214 games and that’s over 8 years.
Stood up against Wilson’s 47 goals in 95 games over 4 years.
We’d be spending money to lose goals.

DCL would be a waste of money and as much as I love Howe if this is his idea of progress we will win nothing ☹️

He loves Luke though 😋

I think this would be bizarre all around as for the reasons mentioned on our side.
But from DCL’s perspective, why would you want to swap being first choice at a PL club, to come sit on the bench behind one of the best young strikers in Europe.

I’d rather have a punt on Tammy Abraham, he’s available and around the same price.

Hopefully this is one of luke edwards fairy stories .. don’t want him he is not prolific and has a series of injuries .. if true that Howe wants this level of player then we will not improve the squad …, if yankuba is wanted by dortmund and napoli and Howe don’t want him .. it’s worrying
