Newcastle eyeing two exciting young attackers and striker keen to sign – Report

Mark Douglas has released a piece on the Toon transfer front after a hectic weekend of Newcastle United rumours over the past 48 hours.

He’s revealed that Newcastle face competition from West Ham and Brentford to sign Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, but the 27-year-old is keen on a move to St James’ Park and our interest is thought to be the most advanced.

Interestingly, the same report from the i reveals that Newcastle are keen to add more promising young players to their squad this summer and are interested in Arsenal’s Amario Cozier-Duberry and Sunderland’s Chris Rigg.

Cozier-Duberry, a 19-year-old right-winger, rejected a new contract at the Emirates this week and will leave on a free transfer this summer, while has been tipped to sign a pro deal on Wearside despite continual links with Newcastle and Man Utd.

Signing teenage talents before they hit their peak is a smart move from the club and something we’ll see more of, although there’s an irony about targeting more just as Yankuba Minteh looks set to be sold for a quick profit 12 months after arriving from Odense.

  1. I’ve just seen Chelsea linked with DCL as a one to watch. Fingers crossed we’re not really that interested and just pushing up the price for Chelsea. Please Chelsea, PLEASE sign him!

  2. Why bother buying young talent just to loan them out then sell before they ever play for us? If this is our new business model I hate it
