Newcastle closing in on £100m cut-off as Bruno Guimaraes deadline goes public

Bruno Guimaraes’ release clause has just hours left to run, putting Newcastle United in the drivers seat over the Brazilian’s future this summer.

As revealed by Fabrizio Romano, the midfielder’s £100m escape clause is due to expire at 23.59pm (UK time) on Monday night, meaning interested parties have until midnight to make their move.

With Bruno set for his first game at Copa America in the early hours of Tuesday morning, it now feels almost certain that the likes of Man City, Arsenal and PSG miss the deadline to sign the 26-year-old for £100m.

It’s felt likely for a few weeks now that he stays beyond the deadline, but this will ease fears on Tyneside and put Newcastle United back in total control of his future, with the club in a position to dictate a transfer fee and demand north of £100m from midnight onwards.

For me, this guarantees he’ll stay this summer. No club will pay in excess of £100m next month after missing their window to sign him for less and Newcastle have no intention of selling their star man now the ball is back in our court over his future.

  2. This is what I have heard coming from reports down in London.

    You,LL like this one.

Arsenals manager Arteta has decided to give Ramsdale an extended contract with a £100 million release clause.
That now makes Ramsdale worth £100 million!

They have decided to also let Ramsdale go if he wishes not to stay, in a straight swap deal with Ramsdale (now worth £100 million because his release clause says so), with Newcastles Guimaraes now that they are worth the same money, because their release clause says so. So it must be true. That’s how the media also values players it seems by their release clause.
