According to reports this morning, Jarrod Bowen is emerging as one of Newcastle’s top targets in our search for a new right-winger.
This comes via Scott Wilson at the Northern Echo, who reports that the West Ham star has been identified as our No.1 target as things stand, with Nottingham Forest’s Anthony Elanga, Chelsea’s Noni Madueke and Leeds’ Crysencio Summerville among the other names discussed after the club missed out on a deal for Michael Olise, now at Bayern Munich.
He reports that Toon chiefs believe a deal ‘could be possible’ and senior figures at the club feel he could be signed for considerably less than the £100m figure suggested by some media outlets.
Bowen delivered 20 goals and 10 assists for the Hammers last season and is a proven operator at Premier League level, with 99 goal involvements in 202 appearances for West Ham. He’d be a superb signing for the here and now, adding guaranteed goals to the right-side of our front three, but I can’t see us breaking the bank for a player who’ll turn 28 later this year. Based on his age, his importance to West Ham and his likely price tag, I think it’ll be an extremely tough deal to pull off.
The Telegraph’s Luke Edwards revealed that Bowen was a key target at the end of May, with Newcastle retaining a long-term interest in the winger ever since his time at Hull City.

Don’t WHUFC view selling Bowen in the same way NUFC view selling Gordon .. it’ll cost a lot .. and that’s before going anywhere near what he wants.
I hope NUfC spring a RW signing in the same way they did with Mitchell .. not to spite the media but just to get it done
