According to reports in Italy, Newcastle United have joined the race to sign Toulouse defender Logan Costa.
The French-born Cape Verde international barely missed a minute of Toulouse’s solid 2023/24 season, also playing seven times in the Europa League before they were edged out by Benfica in the last 16.
It’s a new link in our ongoing search for a young, right-sided centre-back, but I suspect we’ll pursue a slightly more proven and high-profile option after strong links with AC Milan’s Malick Thiaw and Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi over the past week.
The other option is we’re also looking for another squad option, with Jamaal Lascelles (ACL) and Emil Krafth out of contract next summer and Sven Botman still working his way back from a serious knee injury.
