Newcastle eyeing two Crystal Palace stars with Liverpool domino effect lined up – Report

Newcastle United could face competition from Liverpool for Marc Guehi, with Ebere Eze also emerging as a potential option for Eddie Howe.

According to journalist Alan Nixon, new Reds boss Arne Slot is a big fan of Guehi and is eager for Liverpool to sign the 24-year-old. He reports that we are yet to launch a formal bid for the centre-back, with Palace currently demanding a whopping £70m.

In the same piece, Nixon claims that Palace are also ‘anxious’ that Newcastle will make a move for Eze – who has a £60m release clause in his deal – if Liverpool reignite their interest in Anthony Gordon, with Eze considered a potential left-sided replacement for the scouse winger.

Newcastle’s preference appears to be signing Guehi at centre-back and keeping Gordon at the club. But Nixon suggests that Eze is one to watch should Gordon push for a return to Merseyside.

In another potential domino effect, the report suggests that right-sided centre-back Joe Gomez could also be offered our way by Liverpool should they pursue Gordon and beat us to a deal for Guehi.

Essentially, Nixon is saying Eze could be targeted if Gordon departs, while Gomez – who we looked to sign for £45m during the PSR scramble at the end of June – may be back on the agenda if Liverpool beat us to Guehi.

  1. So Liverpool end up with Gordon and Guehi and we get Gomez and Eze
but only if Gordon pushes for a move
Not sure that palace having already lost Oliese spl want to lose Guehi and Eze as well.

  2. Liverpool have Gakpo, Diaz as LWFs with Jota also listed as that position.

Unless they are looking to move 1 or 2 of them on, or they play to play Gordon in the middle or RWF I’m not sure where he fits in there.

Gomez when fit is very good, but he has really struggled with injuries in the last 2 seasons – he’s not the player I’d be looking to exchange if we were working out a deal for Gordon.
