According to Sky Sports’ Keith Downie, Newcastle United have completed the signing of Sheffield United striker William Osula and look set to formally announce his arrival in the coming hours.
The promising 21-year-old striker reportedly passed his Newcastle medical yesterday and completed formalities, putting pen to paper on a long-term contract at St James’ Park.
The fee is thought to be £10m with £5m in add-ons. The plan is to have Osula as part of the first team squad this season, suggesting he will not be going out on loan.
Osula stands 6ft 4′ and is a versatile forward – he can also play out wide – who has pace, power, quick feet and plenty of potential to take his game to improve under Eddie Howe.
There is the assumption he will be third choice behind Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson – who is currently out with a back injury – and benefit from training under a high quality set up with some well managed minutes.
We await official confirmation of the Dane’s signature from the club.
