Trippier targeted by Premier League rivals after £16.5m deal collapses – Report

According to The Telegraph, West Ham have registered an interest in signing Kieran Trippier as they push to bring in a new right-back ahead of the new season.

The 33-year-old is out of contract next summer and has been linked with a potential move away this summer, with Saudi clubs linked and deputy Tino Livramento tipped to step into his shoes should Newcastle decide to cash in.

After West Ham’s £16.5m move for Bayern Munich’s Noussair Mazraoui collapsed last month, it’s believed Man Utd’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Southampton’s Kyle Walker-Peters have been looked. However, the Hammers have been unable to strike a deal for either so far, leading them to show interest in Trippier.

The Telegraph report that it’s currently unclear if he will be allowed to leave Newcastle this summer, with Eddie Howe a huge fan of our vice-captain. On the flip side, the club may feel this is our last chance to get a good fee for the England international and additional funds could be key to sign a top right-winger should Marc Guehi arrive for £60-65m.

West Ham have been active in the market so far this summer, bringing in Max Kilman, Crysencio Summerville, Niclas Fullkrug, Guido Rodriguez and Luis Guilherme before turning their attentions to a new right-back.
