Miguel Almiron in talks to leave and Marc Guehi deal moves closer – Fabrizio Romano

Miguel Almiron could be in line to leave Newcastle after nearly six years at the club, with the Paraguayan linked with a move back to the MLS.
In an exclusive from Fabrizio Romano, it’s emerged that Charlotte FC have approached Newcastle over an ‘ambitious move’ for Miggy, with executives from the North Carolina side meeting in London to hold talks. However, they’ll have to be quick if they plan to secure his signing, as the MLS transfer window is due to close in just two days.
Romano had also issued a positive update on Marc Guehi, reporting that Newcastle are ‘increasingly confident’ of landing the centre-back after submitting a third bid to Crystal Palace.
It’s believed our latest offer is an initial £55m which includes add-ons that could take the deal up to £60m in total, giving Palace a big decision to make with the player keen on the move and out of contract in less than two years time.
Back to Almiron, who joined the Magpies from Atlanta FC back in January 2019, the 30-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from Tyneside recently, though talks of a move to Saudi Arabia stagnated with the player’s said to be reluctant to leave for the Middle East.
Charlotte FC have already signed Fulham and USMNT defender Tim Ream this window, and will be looking to make big strides in the MLS ahead of their third season in the competition. Should Almiron depart, it would free up funds and space in the squad for a much-needed right winger.
