Marc Guehi update – New details of third bid now made public after Crystal Palace talks

The Mail have now reported on the details of Newcastle’s new improved bid for Marc Guehi.

Chief reporter Sami Mokbel reveals that our third offer is an initial £55m that will increase to £60m if certain payment add-ons are achieved.

The bid falls short of Crystal Palace’s £65m valuation, but it remains to be seen if our latest offer will tempt them to sell now that England international has entered the final two years of his contract at the club.

The same report states that our second offer was an initial £48m plus add-ons to take the deal beyond £50m, but this was turned down by the Eagles last week.

Paul Mitchell is leading talks and Newcastle are awaiting Palace’s response. Eddie Howe is thought to be a huge admirer of Guehi and fully behind the move, although the club may be forced to pursue other targets if our third bid is rejected.

  1. Was there ever a first offer that was successful?
Always seems to be 3rd time’s a charm.
Reminds of the Austin Powers scene where the bad guy explains that he has to answer the question if it’s asked 3 times.
