Newcastle set to launch third bid for Marc Guehi after £15m Crystal Palace gap – Report

According to reports on Monday morning, Newcastle United look set to launch a third and potentially final bid for top centre-back target Marc Guehi.

This comes from The Mail’s chief reporter Sami Mokbel, who reveals that we’re returning with a third offer for the 24-year-old as talks with Crystal Palace head towards a ‘crucial stage.’

He reports that our second offer, thought to be just shy of £50m, was rejected by the Eagles last week, with that bid around £15m shy of the overall package Palace chiefs are demanding for the England international.

However, Paul Mitchell is putting together a new package for Crystal Palace to consider. Palace want a deal worth £65m and it’s been reported this morning that a compromise could be reached. However, The Mail believe that Newcastle could pursue other centre-back targets if our third offer for Guehi is rejected.

After a week of ‘positive talks’ and unsuccessful bids, it feels like this could be a take-it-or-leave-it offer.
