Sky Sports host and Newcastle United fan Pete Graves believes there is still a ‘good chance’ Marc Guehi ends up at Newcastle United this summer.
After three bids for the Crystal Palace star, he feels Newcastle would not ‘keep going back’ for the 24-year-old if they weren’t receiving ‘encouragement from somewhere’, suggesting there’s a deal to be done and/or the player is keen to seal a move to St James’ Park.
Graves’ message on X (Twitter) was: ‘I still believe there’s a good chance Guehi ends up at NUFC. They wouldn’t keep going back in if they weren’t getting encouragement from somewhere. That’s my opinion.’
The Eagles defender was chosen by Palace for Sky Sports media duties yesterday, which caused some frustrated Toon fans to question if the deal was off. In response to this, North-East correspondent Keith Downie said: ‘It’s not off, unless you know something we don’t?’
A similar message from the Sky Sports duo following a quiet few days on the Guehi front, giving some hope that a deal can still be agreed despite a £55m bid was seemingly rejected before bullish comments from Palace’s Steve Parish on Tuesday.

Of course they’ve had encouragement – pay £65m and he’s yours 🤷🏼♂️

It’s pretty much business as usual.
We’ve got Saudi owners and clubs are asking silly prices.
We’ve made the traditional 3 offers and Palace are not budging.
Let’s move on and hope we can find a club somewhere willing to do business who has no idea who our owners are.

Clubs know our funds are not inexhaustible due to psr and ffp and by asking stupid prices for their players are limiting our progress as a club and probably their own.
We are not able to use the richest club in the world they tag us with, so I wish those stupid lazy journalists would just do one.

Just forget about him, there’s other players out there we could get for half the asking price. Hopefully he can push for the move but reading Guehi’s comments he comes across as not really pushing for the move, so let’s look somewhere else.
