According to The Times, Newcastle United’s fourth bid for Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi is worth £65m.
It was revealed by The Mail’s Sami Mokbel earlier today that we’ve launched another bid for the 24-year-old after our offer of £55m plus £5m in add-ons was rejected on Wednesday. However, details of our latest bid have now emerged.
The Times’ North East reporter Martin Hardy states that our offer is £65m with add-ons included. It’s been widely reported that the Ealges are demanding at least £65m for the centre-back, but Hardy states that they value the England international at more like £70m, as 20% of the final fee will be heading to Chelsea due to the sell-on clause they inserted into his £18m move back in 2021.
It’s been suggested that a breakthrough is now ‘close’ in Mokbel’s piece this morning, so let’s hope it’s fourth time lucky for the Magpies and we finally strike a deal.
The same report reveals that Crystal Palace are looking at Wolfsburg’s Maxence Lacroix, Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah and Bayer Leverkusen’s Odilon Kossounou as a potential replacement.

First and foremost, as a Palace fan I really don’t want Marc to leave. But if his heart lies somewhere else, you cant begrudge him the move. More importantly, if at last Newcastle United are offering a more realistic transfer fee, then take the money and re-invest in to the team. The money would go someway to securing another centre back, may be Lacroix, along with a left wing back and another striker, possibly N’Ketiah. This could be a pivotal season for Palace and if managed well we could move to the next level, win a cup and may be secure a European spot……..nothing wrong with dreaming hey!

Common consensus among fans other than cpfc is £65m is more than a good deal for cpfc. Like nufc with their star players, Guehi is on a contract that protects the club, so cpfc should demand top whack.
Nowt wrong with a win win if both clubs and player get what they want.
My only gripe is this is playing out in the media

Yes I agree playing this saga out in the media is frustrating started by THE CP Chairman who is hopeing another club like Liverpool/Tottenham try to gazump the deal. As soon as he did this NUFC should have walked away from this saga
GUEHI is not signn-ing anothe contract at CP and his value will fall in January poss30-40 mill which is more realistic for this player with one good season behind him.

FFS £65m for a player with one good season behind him, we’re overpaying by about £30m.
Should have gone overseas rather than paying premier league prices!
For some unknown reason English players seem to come at a premium price, you’d think the national team had won something recently 😬
