Every done deal at Newcastle as transfer window shuts – 6 in, 8 out and 4 loans

The summer transfer window has finally shut, capping off a seriously underwhelming three months for Newcastle United.

We signed no one on deadline day, failing to land Marc Guehi, James Trafford or Anthony Elanga following a late bid for the Forest star, but saw a few players leave, either on loan or a permanent deal.

Here’s a summary of everything that happened, including some our activity at U21* level:

IN

  • Lewis Hall – £28m (Chelsea)
  • William Osula – £10m + £5m (Sheffield United)
  • Lloyd Kelly – Free (Bournemouth)
  • John Ruddy – Free (Birmingham)
  • Odysseas Vlachodimos – (Nottingham Forest)
  • *Miodrag Pivas – Undisclosed (FK Jedinstvo)

OUT

  • Yankuba Minteh – £33m (Brighton)
  • Elliot Anderson – £35m (Nottingham Forest)
  • Ryan Fraser – Terminated contract (Southampton)
  • Harrison Ashby – Loan (QPR)
  • Joe White – Loan (MK Dons)
  • *Jamie Miley – Loan (Newport County)
  • *Max Thompson – Loan (Chesterfield FC)
  • Paul Dummett – Released
  • Matt Ritchie – Released
  • Loris Karius – Released
  • Jeff Hendrick – Released
  • Kell Watts – Released

On a positive note, we’ve kept Bruno, Isak and Gordon, Howe is still here and Mitchell can still be a very good sporting director for the club in the long run, but it’s a poor window with plenty of lessons to learn.

Roll on Sunday.

  1. It’s a very disappointing transfer window for Newcastle …..again. Far too much time spent negotiating with Palace who were NEVER going to sell and we gave ourselves little orno time with anyone else sensible for the cause. Poor Eddie.

  2. One day we’ll make our signings at the beginning of a window because we have prepared well. This is A level Ashley stuff embarrassing

    Amanda left for a reason
Without her we are adrift it seems

  3. WOW! Mitchell hang your head in shame!

Crystal Palace have made him look like a real idiot. The rest of the premiership must be having a real laugh at us.

    What a shambles!!!

  4. Still questions over why in Eddie’s judgement guei was worth paying big money for when he is just a good centre back and not a top player and how on earth Mitchell completely got run around … let’s see how the team does till January as botman will be back
And then we will see if Howe and Mitchell have impacted the season by their inability to improve the squad , damaged morale and stopped momentum

  5. Àl the fans banging on about Amanda, she got her millions and ran. Don’t care about nufc just money. She will go to another club and say how much she loves that club and make more money. Wake up fools.

  6. What if that was the plan all along? not to spend so much and attack the season with minimal investment, baring in mind we finished 7th with a decimated squad, what could we do if we had most of those players back? Tonali back too. we have had a good clear out of fringe players as well, i think its been a good summer.
I just cannot believe that we only had 1 player that we were chasing in that 1 position it makes no logical sense when all these people like Paul Mitchel say they have at least 3 for every position. it has to be some kind of plan

Dead right – she and her husband will be draped in Tottenham scarves in the bat of an eyelid.

  8. Absolutely senseless spending the entire summer trying to sign one player. Palace made us feel ridiculous at the end. So many other teams achieved their transfer goals. Newcastle achieved nothing over 3 months. Guehi was not worth the hype. Nothing to show for an entire summer. Disgusted!
