According to talkSPORT, Paul Mitchell could make a late move for Chelsea’s Axel Disasi if a deal for Marc Guehi can not be rekindled.
This comes from Alex Crook, who reports that Disasi is an option, perhaps on loan, that may be explored now fellow alternative Mohamed Simakan is on his way to Saudi side Al Nassr.
It’s hard to know if this is lazy reporting on deadline day or a genuine alternative that’s one to watch ahead of tonight’s 11pm deadline, but it is worth noting that Mitchell signed Disasi for Monaco during our sporting director’s time in France.
Mitchell oversaw his €13m switch from Reims to Monaco back in August 2020 and has since seen the France international complete a £39m switch to Stamford Bridge last summer.
The 26-year-old, who can also play at right-back, has had a mixed first season in England and has been tipped to leave after missing out on Enzo Maresca’s matchday squads in their opening two Premier League games.

No thanks. Krafth is just fine at centre back. The last thing we need now is an overpaid mercenary from Chelsea. If he’s not good enough for them, he’s certainly not good enough for us. Run a mile!

Ian as things stand we are light at the back one more injury and we are in dire straights again. Any cover is better than none.

Steve – correct mate. Beyond this season Schar & Lascelles and probably Krafth too could all leave out of contract.
I’m all in favour of planning for the long term – but sometimes you have to react for the short term.

Straight up loan, depending on fee. Add in a buyout clause. If he’s good keep him, if not the loan expires, he returns and then next season we can move again for someone else.
Chelsea should be keen to do a deal as it takes his wages off the table.

Disasi working under Howe would be amazing. He is raw potential currently in the Prem. I have watching him in the frech league and he is a powerful CB who is mobile and can score goals from shots or with his head. He would be an incredible player if coached well. Huge potential just like Guehi – also a French national team player!!

Where are all these mythical transfer stories emanating from, is it journalistic licence? we must have been linked with 60 players in the last 12 months! If we had been quick enough to push bids for Guehi before Fulham secured Anderson it could have been different. You couldn’t expect Palace to part with both centre backs.
