TV nightmare as Newcastle vs West Ham change looks set to cause chaos

It looks like Newcastle’s home match against the West Ham is set to be moved in what promises to cause chaos for Hammers fans.

As revealed by West Ham insider @ExWHUEmployee, their trip to St James’ Park has been moved from Saturday 23rd November to Monday 25th November at 8pm in a nightmare scenario for the away supporters.

West Ham fans already have a long journey ahead of them making their way from London to the North East, but this rearranged fixture will now put even more strain on their travels, with the last train back to the capital leaving Newcastle Central Station at 9:35pm.

This would require away fans to exit St James’ Park midway through the second half to get back home that night or to pay for hotels and book the following days off work.

This will leaving their supporters in the sort of tricky away-day situation we’ve seen so many times. But, according to Sky Sports and the Premier League, “football is for the fans.” In reality, we come last.

Official confirmation of the date change should arrive tomorrow, where we’ll learn if any other of our games for November have been picked up and moved for Sky or TNT Sports coverage.

  1. The whole concept of a Newcastle fan moaning on behalf of a West Ham fan is quite alien to me.
The fixture has been moved to be shown on TV, generating revenue, and Reynolds is still complaining – but this time FOR WEST HAM!
“This would require away fans to exit St James’ Park midway through the second half to get back home that night or to pay for hotels and book the following days off work.”
First of all ” book the following DAYS off work”? How long does it take to get to London?
He also claims fans would have to leave half way through the second half to get home.
Doesn’t he realise thee are these new fangled things called CARS, or COACHES?
Ah, the good old days when fans would band together and organise groups of coaches to go to away games!
Why is he moaning for Hammers fans?
Doesn’t he realise that there will always be games rearranged for TV so there will always be inconvenience? That’s the price you pay for being in the richest league in the world.
Sttop your bloody moaning and stop trying to blame the FA for every tiny little inconvenience.

  2. I suppose this is the modern world.
In a time when people moan about being offended, not for themselves but on behalf of others who they think MIGHT be offended, it shouldn’t come as a surprise to find a Toon fan blogger complaining on behalf of Hammers fans who MIGHT be inconvenienced.

I suspect deep down inside Andrew Reynolds just cannot understand why teams even have to play away matches.

  3. As a West Ham fan who has yet to get tickets for an way day at Newcastle, I do get the frustration, whilst you could drive there, not everyone has a car and a return coach trip to Newcastle is actually close to 20 hours travelling time. Well stuff that.

The reality is forget I am a West Ham fan , we are all being shafted by TV companies and Football Clubs. The Tv companies dominate decisions on when and how the game is played, look at what they have ju8st done in the Caraboa Cup, they are slowly turning it into a league to ensure big games can be televised. They have done this in the European competitions. It will be the FA Cup next, the days of knock out competitions with all that brings will be a thing of the past.

Every Football fan is being screwed over.

  4. Is this the West Ham that will have travelled less combined distance to their first FIVE away games (all their away days before they come here) than Newcastle did on their first away day last month?
    My heart bleeds for them
