Simon Jordan has explained why he “feels sorry” for Newcastle United and our ongoing battles with PSR and APT rules that continue to impact our ability to spend, describing the Premier League as “anti-competitive.”
Speaking on talkSPORT, the former Crystal Palace owner discussed the flawed financial rules holding back our Saudi owners, admitting it is ‘going to be difficult’ to compete with the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea with the current rules in place, despite Eddie Howe’s best efforts.
In his summary of Newcastle and Howe’s position, Jordan labeled the Premier League’s rulings as “ridiculous” after seeing both Man City and Chelsea allowed to spend and spend following their respective takeovers.

Don’t always agree with him, but a lot of this is spot on from @Sjopinion10…#NUFC

The club will simply never be able to catch up to these ‘big teams’ unless there is a change in the PSR rules and, like Jordan said, if it is sustainability that they are so keen to ensure, then what could be better than having a sovereign wealth fund supporting the club?!

It is up to the PIF to challenge this anti-competitive premiere league in court.
It makes you wonder why they won’t or don’t want to?

What I don’t understand is they are harming their own product by introducing these rules – regardless which club it was.
They will have their own records of how their profits went up when Chelsea grew under the Russian and again when City grew with their take over.
It’s taken a few years of growth but both now operate selling players to buy – they can now coz they’ve had chance to develop the squad to that position.
Even if they extended the time from 3 to 5 years.

A massive new stadium for expensive corporates with ordinary fans in an economically depressed area priced out of it would be one way. Is that what the premier league wants?

In due course the prem league will be change the rules to allow Newcastle, villa .forest and co to spend more … if they don’t they will be taken to court for infringements of competition law and monopoly legislation ..
